How long do we hang on to our hurts, resentments, betrayals, anger, addictions, grudges, & unforgiveness?

The betrayal was incomprehensible. The hurt was devastating.  NO ONE CAN UNDERSTAND!  It's their fault. Unconsciously, we start to take ownership of not being wanting to forgive. Unforgiving is very heavy. Imagine carrying a 50lb kettle bell weight everywhere you go.  How about two 20lb bags of grain on each shoulder, daily. These heavy burdens, which is a magnet to our emotions, may be released.  Easier said then done, right?  Let's try it & let go of the 50lb kettle bell weight or maybe exchange it for a 30lb weight and gradually go lighter.  Remove 1 bag of grain or better yet, get rid of both bags. Can we imagine that weight that came off?  We've heard that unforgiving is as if you were giving poison to the other, but in reality, we're the ones that are getting poisoned.  You say, that's absurd. Start observing people with countenance and attitude that exhibits the opposite. Then look for those that you think might be carrying that weight of unforgiving.  Make a choice.

Ephesians 4:31-32 (the Message Bible): Make a clean break with all cutting, backbiting, profane talk.  Be gentle with one another, sensitive. Forgive one another as quickly and thoroughly as God in Christ forgave you.

Romans 12:17: Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all.

  1. Self entitlement & pride allows us to hang on to resentment. God's word and his promises frees us. Love covers all & God is love.

  2. I would like to add a scripture that has helped me personally.
Philipians 3:13-14 But the one thing I do: forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has a called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

I was in a relationship off and on and then married him because I thought it was the right thing to do. Sometimes God allows us to go through things, hold on things that are the weight of a 50 lb kettle bell to teach us that His cloak is lighter. Why did I choose him over God, because I was disobedient, plain and simple and went from a 50 lb to 100 lb, then to 150 lbs....It got so heavy that I was on my knees. On our knees is a good place to begin and to start lifting the weights off. Some people do not need to carry 150 before they live Philipians 3:14-15, they choose obedience. Now that the weight is off I am alot older in life...time has by, what would of happened if listened in the first place?

Remember Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

God loves you and me sooooo much. Lets read and be obedient. Amen!
